Cute & Quiet

It’s been quiet in Nyanaland for the past week or two. Quiet is good. It will stay quiet until a week or two following her surgery, when we finally assess her new normal and make a plan towards discharge from there.

Despite the silence on the medical front, Nyana’s done a very good job of being amazing and awesome on the cuteness front. See for yourself.

Reading her favourite story, "I love you, stinky face."

Great-Granddad proudly snuggles Nyana.

Batting at the mobile.

Nyana smiles for her mobile.

The soother contraption.

98% failproof. Attach one 0.5L saline drip bag to one Sofie The Giraffe. Affix Sofie's ear to hollow of soother, creating a firm seal between the soother and the child. Back away slowly.

She thinks she can almost grab them.

Nyana is figuring out that these grabby hand things are attached to her. And she can grab things with them.

Like father, like daughter.

Don and Nyana practice their tandem tongue wagging skills.

I loooove the picture of her and her mobile! She’s doing amazing with those little hands, Raiden has just started really trying to reach for things like that, so fun to watch!

Once again, Nyana shows that she has the most amazing wardrobe to show off her own amazing cuteness as she progresses and does her job of exploration of self and the world.

Nyana’s soul sister Lucy just sent her one of those! It’s in the laundry right now — hospitals don’t like plush toys, so we need to bend the rules a bit to be allowed to have it. She’s not quite big enough to grasp the concept yet (no pun intended, lol) but she’s going to love it when we bring it in for her!
