Nyana Care Weekend

Hello, Everyone! I just wanted to give you all an update on how the last couple days have gone, as most of you know that things have been pretty busy around here lately. As you know by now, Mum and Dad got to stay with me for a couple of days here in the hospital. We got our own room, and all the doctors and nurses left us alone for a whole 48 hours! It was really cool, they let us stay upstairs with all the big kids, and I got to see some really fun parts of the hospital. Mum and Dad kept worrying over me, but in the end I think we had a really good time. I know I sure did. When I went to sleep they were there and when I woke up they were there! It’s kinda weird now that they’re not here now – I was just starting to get used to them being around all day long – but they said they had to go get some things ready for Operation: Bring Babygirl Home, whatever that means. But we did have a whole two days together and I have to say they were the best two days of my whole entire stay here! We went for walks and we played silly games and sang silly songs, it was a lot of fun. Mum and Dad are busy right now trying to write it all out so they don’t forget anything, and they told me that I could post some of my favourite pictures for now, to show you how much fun we had. So here goes.

I was super excited when they told me that we would get to spend two whole days together - all three of us! I couldn't wait to get going!

Getting settled in our new digs.

They wanted to make sure I was OK with the new room, which I totally was! But if it gets me more snuggles, I'm not going to stop them. First up, Mum.

Next up, Dad. Those two really know how to calm me down. Which is good, because I'm learning how to freak out really well these days.

I've heard them say that I am the Princess of the Sunshine Brigade. I don't really know what that means, but I'm pretty sure that it involves a lot of colour. And for all of you tech-freaks out there, the LCD screen in the top right of the picture is my food pump. Right now it's set to give me 75mL/hr.

We had a lot of cuddles...

...but I wasn't always having a blast. Sometimes I get farty. Shut up, so do you!

Getting ready for one of my walks. The weather was pretty good over the weekend, and we got to get outside a few times. I'm going to have to ask for more of this, I really liked it!

We all went out to the grocery store for some food, like normal people! The handlebars hold my food and Mr. Food Pump, and the front step holds Mr. Battery Pack. Meanwhile, the bottom carriage has Mr. Oxygen, Mr. Bipap, and Mr. Satprobe AND some groceries. Babytrend Expedition Explorer: for all your preemie's needs!

One of my own highlights was going for a Snugli walk. Dad strapped me in and we went down to the NICU like this, although some adjustments may be needed. The nurses there seemed concerned about the blood circulation in my legs, but I kinda liked the tingling sensation...

We had a few photo shoots this weekend – there were times those two wouldn’t put the camera down! I’m like, “Hellloooo, I’m right here!”. They just didn’t get it, always taking pictures with that stupid red light on the front. So lame. At least one of them was fun – here’s my favourite strip.

To end the weekend, we went out around the hospital grounds, looking for Easter eggs (it's Easter Sunday today!) but couldn't find any. Maybe next year.

So there you go, a few pics to tide you over until Mum and Dad can tell you their side of the story. Suffice it to say, we had an absolutely fantabulous time this weekend and I can’t wait until all the final details are done with and I can go be with them 24 hours a day, all the time. Not that I don’t like the nurses and hospital staff – they’re great beyond great – but I just know now who I’m supposed to be with and I can’t wait to go be with them all the time now. They tell me it’s soon but as always I’m just going to take it one day at a time. But I think…I might finally be ready…the question is – are they?

Nyana!!! Thank you for the great report and all the fine pictures of you and your mum and dad! Wow, you are getting so big and if you didn’t have your “tackle” I don’t think anyone would ever guess you came too early! Can’t wait to hear you’re home for good! We will all celebrate that day!

  14. Linda says:

Thank you little Ladybug for this beautiful pictoral expose ~ you are truly as beautiful as your second name, Rose!! Thank you also for being so kind to Mum and Dad and not wearing them out too much on their trial run with you ~ save all of the “good stuff” for when you do get home. We all know that you have been on your best behavior while in the hospita lbut once you get home you can then show them who you really are!! I can’t wait to hear all about your hi-jinks and little surprises you are bound to throw at them. Again, thank you for your patience in sitting so adorably in all of these pictures.
As Robert Munsch says, “Love you forever, love you for always!”
